It was only fitting for Chad Carr supporters to “run tough” in chilly, windy weather on Saturday, October 3, for the 2nd Annual RunTough for ChadTough event presented by the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation.
Ask any of the 1,028 registered participants and they would undoubtedly say it is the least they could do for this brave 5-year-old boy battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG.
“When all those people were running off, I got tears in my eyes,” said Tammi Carr, Chad’s mother. “It’s just amazing.”
Saturday’s event raised more than $120,000 in the name of the little boy who stole hearts just over one year ago when news broke of his diagnosis. Grandson of former University of Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, Chad’s fight – branded “ChadTough” – quickly gained attention and support from the University of Michigan family and surrounding communities.
